Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is a Zoom session as effective as an in-person consultation?

Absolutely. In fact, Zoom often provides better insight. When a stranger enters your home, your cat’s behavior may change—they might even hide completely, making it difficult to observe the issue. With Zoom, I can view multiple areas of your home without disruption, and we can often capture behaviors as they naturally occur. Plus, virtual sessions allow me to work with cat parents around the world without travel costs or increased rates.

2. Do you offer a guarantee?

While I can’t offer a guarantee—because behavior is influenced by many factors—I’m confident in the results we can achieve together. I’ve conducted thousands of consultations, and in 99% of cases, we've seen improvement when the plan is followed consistently. The rare exceptions usually involve circumstances outside of our control, such as untreated medical conditions or special needs that aren't being met. That said, I’m committed to your success and offer unlimited email follow-up support to ensure you feel guided every step of the way.

3. What happens during a session?

My role isn’t to “train” your cat—it’s to decode their behavior and help you understand the why behind it. Every behavior has a root cause, usually tied to instinct. I assess your cat’s environment, habits, and relationships, then create a tailored plan to restore balance in your home. There are no “bad cats”—just misunderstood ones.

4. What does follow-up support include?

After your session, you’ll receive unlimited email support. You’re welcome to send updates, ask questions, or share videos of your cat’s behavior so I can provide ongoing guidance. While emails aren’t a substitute for a full session, they’re perfect for progress check-ins. I aim to respond within 48 hours (excluding weekends and holidays).

5. Why work with me?

Along with being certified through Animal Behavior College (graduating with honors), I hold additional certifications in surrender prevention, feline health, safety, first aid, and even animal communication. But experience is my greatest teacher—I live with 11 cats (and once, a confused Chihuahua), and have personally dealt with integration challenges, litter box issues, spraying, and more. My home is peaceful—and that’s my goal for yours too.
If you're unsure, feel free to book a free 15-minute pre-consultation with Nicole. If it’s not the right fit, that’s totally okay. I want you to feel confident in your choice—no pressure!

6. What’s your connection to The Two Crazy Cat Ladies?

I’ve worked with the Two Crazy Cat Ladies on their own feline challenges (yes, we all have them!) and am honored to partner with them as a trusted behavior resource. I proudly recommend their Feline Essential products—and they endorse my services. That said, I operate independently as The Cat Behaviorist, and they are not responsible for the behavior work I provide. While we collaborate closely, we remain separate entities.
